In our society, straight teeth for adults stand for success and vitality. But not everyone is blessed with straight, even teeth. The causes of crooked teeth are varied and depend on a number of factors. Dental injuries can occur as early as childhood, for example through accidents, which encourages crooked tooth growth. Untreated malocclusions can take a further unfavorable course in adulthood. Hereditary predispositions can also have a considerable influence on the growth of the teeth. Various dental diseases, such as tooth decay or periodontal disease, are another risk factor, as is tooth loss. It is therefore an advantage if you have diseases of your teeth or gums treated as soon as possible. For those affected by uneven teeth, dentistry offers a wide range of methods for straightening them.

Your advantages at a glance:

  • individual methods
  • easier daily oral hygiene
  • prevention of malocclusions progressing
  • lowers the risk of tooth decay and secondary conditions (e.g. autoimmune diseases)
  • reduces the risk of tooth loss

Straight teeth for adults – your options

At our orthodontic practice we offer you a variety of methods for straightening teeth in adults.

Aligners - innovation meets aesthetics

In modern dentistry and orthodontics, clear aligners have become indispensable for restoring straight teeth in adults. They are plastic trays that can be used instead of other forms of tooth correction in cases of mild to moderate malocclusion. What is special about these plastic trays is that they are made of transparent plastic. As a result, they are barely visible while being worn. You can take clear aligners out and put them back in at any time. This is an advantage above all when eating and in important meetings. Thanks to the latest technologies, almost every form of misalignment can be straightened with Invisalign or with aligners from other brands.

Fixed braces - proven and versatile

Braces in Frankfurt are one of the classic methods of tooth correction for achieving straight teeth in adults. Here we attach so-called metal brackets to the front of your teeth. We connect these brackets with a wire. This exerts pressure or traction on your teeth and thereby moves them into the desired position.

The advantage of these braces is that they can also achieve good results with more severe malocclusions. At the same time, however, they are more visible while being worn than, for example, clear aligners or lingual braces.

Lingual braces - effective and almost invisible

Lingual braces are based on the same principle as fixed braces: here, too, we attach brackets to your teeth and connect them with a wire. In this case the brackets are attached to the backs of the teeth, facing the tongue. That is why the braces are barely visible from the outside.

The advantage of lingual braces lies not only in the aesthetics, but also in the fact that they work about as effectively as visible fixed braces. However, lingual braces can be perceived as bothersome in everyday life, which is why good advice in line with your individual wishes is very important. We will help you find the right treatment for you.

Veneers

If tooth correction is not necessary for medical reasons — that is, if it is purely about (re-)creating an aesthetic appearance — then veneers can be used. These are wafer-thin shells made of durable ceramic. We bond these shells to the fronts of the teeth. In some cases the teeth have to be reduced beforehand. To minimize this reduction, orthodontic preliminary treatment can be useful. We would be happy to advise you on this in detail.

What are the advantages of straightening the teeth?

Straight teeth for adults are not only an aesthetic ideal. You can also benefit from straight teeth in terms of health: straight teeth for adults can make daily oral hygiene easier - you can clean the spaces between your teeth better and thereby avoid tooth decay more effectively. In addition, even mild misalignments of the teeth can subsequently lead to severe malocclusions. It therefore makes sense to correct even mild malocclusions.

At our dental practice we advise you in a relaxed atmosphere about the various options for tooth correction. At Hakim Aesthetics it is close to our hearts to always address your individual needs. The method of tooth correction for adults is adapted to the condition of your teeth, to any underlying conditions and to further factors. Together we discuss your options and select the method that best suits your individual circumstances and preferences.

Course of treatment - how we achieve straight teeth for adults

We want to make your treatment as pleasant as possible and, together with you, find the best treatment method for you. That is why we accompany you with all your questions and concerns throughout your entire treatment period — and are happy to be there for you afterwards as well.

Initial consultation and information

At your first appointment there is a detailed conversation. We inform you in detail about possible treatment options and their costs. That way you can consider together with us which of the therapy options offered is best suited to you.

Thorough examination and diagnosis

Before we start with the tooth correction, we thoroughly examine your teeth, your gums and your facial aesthetics. In doing so, the important aesthetic factors and how your teeth individually fit the overall shape of your face are examined.

3D visualization of the teeth

So that the respective tooth correction closely matches your needs and your facial aesthetics, we determine the dimensions of your teeth with the help of a scan and digital images, and plan your treatment using the most modern 3D technology.

Wear instructions and fitting tooth correction for adults into everyday life

You can take clear aligners out yourself at any time and do not need a separate appointment for it. Nevertheless, for the treatment to work as planned the aligners should be worn at least 20-22 hours a day.

Fixed braces and lingual braces stay in your mouth. They require proper care in order to avoid areas of decay underneath the braces.

Regular check-up appointments and changing aligners

About every 6-8 weeks we check the progress of the therapy with clear aligners and braces. If needed, you receive new, properly fitting aligners. Braces are readjusted by us. Veneers do not require any special check-up - they can be assessed as part of the recommended routine dental check-up with your dentist.

FAQs - frequently asked questions about straight teeth for adults

Does health insurance pay for orthodontic treatment for adults?

Unfortunately, treatments for straight teeth in adults are only rarely covered by health insurance. This applies above all to the treatment of aesthetic dental concerns or mild malocclusions. An exception may exist for severe jaw and tooth misalignments. In these cases it is possible that health insurance will cover at least part of the treatment, as long as a surgical procedure is necessary. It therefore makes sense for you to find out about possible contributions toward the costs before treatment begins. We are happy to help you find the therapy method for straightening your teeth that is right for you. That way you always keep an eye on any costs that may arise.

Straight teeth for adults - how long does treatment take?

How long it takes to (re-)create straight teeth in adults depends on a number of factors. It is not only the current condition of your teeth that determines the duration of the therapy. Any pre-existing conditions can also play a role in the treatment. The choice of orthodontic appliance is decisive as well. We select it together with you, so that you receive a treatment tailored individually to you. Depending on that choice, the treatment time for the correction can range from a few weeks up to about three years.
